Regroupement familial
SPONSOR YOUR SPOUSE AND CHILDREN AS PERMANENT RESIDENTS
The purpose of the family class is to reunite families in Canada. This class allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their dependent children, parents and grandparents, spouses, common-law or conjugal partners.
The Government of Canada is committed to keeping families together as much as possible. As such, the processing of these applications remains a high priority for Canadian immigration offices.
Spousal Sponsorship Category
Both the Canadian citizen or permanent resident (also known as the "Sponsor") and the foreign national (the "Sponsored Person") must be approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC, formerly known as Citizenship and Immigration Canada) before the Sponsored Person can receive a visa.
Indeed, there may be times when you are not eligible. DFG will be able to help you overcome your ineligibility.

Dependent Child Sponsorship Program
Dependent children, whether natural or adopted, may be sponsored to live with their parents as permanent residents in Canada. The dependent child sponsorship program is a sub-category of family reunification.
In order to meet the requirements of the program, both the Canadian citizen or permanent resident (also known as the "sponsor") and his or her child residing abroad (known as the "sponsored person") must be approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in order for the sponsored person to obtain a visa.
